DENTAL IMPLANTS SERVICES

Dental implants are metal frames that are surgically attached to the jawbone, once in position, it creates a secure and permanent anchor for individual crowns. Unlike conventional dentures and bridges, dental implants fit, feel and function like natural teeth. Typically, dentists use medical-grade titanium implant fixtures embedded on the jawbone. Overtime those fixtures will fuse with the bone creating a strong and stable support for new dental crowns. That means compared to other types of teeth replacement, dental implants won’t slip or shift when you eat or talk.
-
A dental implant is an excellent alternative for people who suffer from missing teeth and other chronic dental problems. They offer a permanent solution to regaining your dental health and restoring your smile so you can be confident and proud to show your pearly whites. Here are some benefits of having dental implants:
It is the next best thing to natural teeth. Dental implants are strong, secure and stable, they will not shift or become loose. They are designed to look, feel and function like real teeth seamlessly blending with your natural teeth. With dental implants you can enjoy life and not worry or feel uncomfortable when you talk, chew or laugh. Additionally, dental implants also let you retain the natural shape of your face and your smile without suffering from any bone loss or other dental health issues.
Dental implants offer the best-long term solution to missing teeth. They are built to last and offer a cost effective alternative compared to bridges or dentures that need to be replaced every 5 years or so. While dental implants may require some adjustments from time to time, with proper care they can last a lifetime.
-
The first step to having dental implants is a thorough evaluation of your overall dental health including your teeth and gums. First, you need to have adequate bone that can support the implant. Second, it is important to have healthy gums free of periodontal disease. If you are a viable candidate for dental implants, your dentist and periodontist will determine which type of implant is best for your condition and create a treatment plan suited to your needs.
Keep in mind that a successful dental implant is a team effort. To ensure a successful dental implant that will last for a long time, it is also important to practice oral hygiene including regular visits to your dentist. PLASMA-RICH-FIBRIN PROCEDURES
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an innovative technology that is widely used in medicine and dentistry for over a decade with a lot of success. Upper Thornhill Dental Care offers PRF procedures for many dental surgeries from tooth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting and more. It is very effective in enhancing bone growth for bone grafting procedures and dental implants. The use of Plasma-Rich Fibrin in procedures is known to speed up the healing process, reduce pain and swelling.
-
Plasma-Rich Fibrin is derived from a small sample of the patients’ blood. It starts with an assessment, your 20 Finch Denal team will evaluate if you are a candidate for a PRF treatment. This procedure is not recommended for patients with blood clotting disorders. Once you are cleared for the procedure, you will be scheduled for an outpatient procedure. The PRF is prepared before your dental procedure, a small sample (2 oz.) of your blood will be drawn and placed in a centrifuge. After about 15 minutes, the plasma, fibrin and the white blood cells is now ready for your use.
After your dental implant or bone grafting procedure is done, your dentist will apply the plasma rich fibrin directly into the area. This will decrease pain, swelling and discomfort as well as prevent infection after the surgery. Plasma rich fibrin will also accelerate healing process by enhancing tissue and bone regeneration.

CBCT GUIDED IMPLANT SURGERY
-
Dental cone beam computed tomography or CBCT, is used in a variety of dental treatments including dental implants. 20 Finch Dental, we performs CBCT Guided Implant Surgeries to provide more accurate, efficient and safe dental implants to all our patients.
-
Cone Beam CT (CBCT) is an X-ray based dental imaging technique that provides fast and accurate visualization of bony anatomical structures in three dimensions. CBCT scanning resolution is higher, with fewer artifacts and scatters. The scan field of view can also be reduced to image smaller volumes and lower the radiation dose associated with each scan. A dentist may use this technology to produce three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bones in a single scan.one Beam CT (CBCT) is an X-ray based dental imaging technique that provides fast and accurate visualization of bony anatomical structures in three dimensions. At 20 Finch Dental , we offer in-house Cone Beam CT Scans through state-of-the-art technology in the North York region. We have radiation optimized scanning facilities that produce high image quality. We use digital Cone Beam scanners with high-resolution images of the entire jaw area down to a single quadrant scan with reduced radiation dose, at high speed.
-
Dental cone beam CT is commonly used for treating orthodontic issues. It is also used for more complex cases that involve:
Surgical planning for impacted teeth.
Diagnosing mandibular joint disorders.
Accurate placement of dental implants.
Evaluation of jaws, sinuses and nerve canals.
Detecting, measuring and treating jaw tumors.
Determining bone structure and tooth orientation.
Locating the origin of pain or pathology.
Reconstructive surgery.
-
Cone Beam CT provides detailed images of the entire mouth. This includes a complete view of your mouth, bone and nerves and eliminates guesswork. This allows for optimal placement of the implants in terms of width and the depth, ensuring a safer surgery.
CBCT guided dental implants are also more predictable. Using the 3-D images of the patients teeth, gums and bones, the dentist will be able to predict what the implant will look like. With the x-ray your dentist can show you a clear image of the end result once the procedure is done.
CBCT Guided Implant Surgery is also much more efficient. What used to take a couple of hours can now be done in less time. Having the CBCT images means everything is figured out even before the surgery begins. With the help of the CBCT, dental implant surgery is done more accurately and efficiently.

BONE GRAFTING
20 Finch Dental offers a number of options for restoring your smile including dental implants. Implants feel, look and function like real teeth, offering a permanent solution to missing teeth. A successful dental implant needs a good, strong jaw to hold and support it through a lifetime of chewing and mouth movement. Inadequate jawbone that is too thin or soft can result in a failed surgery.
However, this is not the end of the road. Bone grafting is an excellent solution that can create a more sturdy and solid base for a dental implant. While bone grafting may seem daunting, it is actually a very common and painless routine procedure.
-
Bone grafting is done by getting a small piece of bone from another part of the body, like the jaw bone and placing it to the area where the implant will be placed. Artificial bone is also commercially available and can also be used for grafting. Once the transplant is complete, there will be a waiting period of a few months. This allows the graft to grow new and stronger bones that can provide a more secure and stable base for the implant. In the meantime, a temporary denture can be placed to fill the gap of the missing teeth.
In many cases, the patient will only need minor bone grafting. Depending on the overall condition of the jawbone, this can be done at the same time as the dental implant procedure.
-
Once the surgery is complete, it is common to feel discomfort and some post-operative pain similar to having your teeth pulled. Your 20 Finch Dental team will ensure that your pain is managed and that you are comfortable and relaxed during and after the procedure.
